Description
The CRP-ATLAS - EXPOSOMICS project is a five-year international study designed to improve understanding of coronary artery disease, the worldβs leading cause of death. It will bring together data from up to 40 centers worldwide and use cardiac Computed Tomography imaging and artificial intelligence to measure the build-up of plaque in the heartβs arteries. The study will examine how this disease is influenced not only by traditional risk factors, such as smoking, diabetes and high blood pressure, but also by environmental and social conditions, including air pollution, heat, diet, living environments and socioeconomic circumstances. By including diverse populations, particularly from low- and middle-income countries, ATLAS/EXPOSOMICS aims to support more accurate and equitable approaches to early detection, risk assessment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Objectives
To characterize the global variability and biological, environmental and socioeconomic determinants of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
Specific Objectives
1. Describe the variation in atherosclerotic coronary artery disease burden across countries, regions and income levels
2. Examine the drivers of cardiovascular events, and the interaction between baseline atherosclerotic coronary artery disease burden with biological risk factors and the exposome
3. Provide a deep phenotyping of multiorgan body composition to examine (amongst others): Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic profile; Biological/Organ age; Global variation in the pattern of these
