Chemoga Yeda Ethiopia Tender

Scope :
Chemoga Yeda is a 280MW hydro power project. It is planned on Chemoga-Yeda river/basin in Amhara, Ethiopia.
It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2029 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2032.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Ethiopian Electric Power. The company has a stake of 100%.

The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 325 million cubic meter. The project is expected to generate 1,087 GWh of electricity.

Chemoga Yeda (Chemoga Yeda I) consists of 2 units of pelton turbines with 81MW nameplate capacity.

Chemoga Yeda (Chemoga Yeda II) consists of 2 units of francis turbines with 59MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2029. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2032.

Contractors involved

POSCO Engineering & Construction is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
