The project in brief
Background Mali is one of the Sahel countries most exposed to the effects of climate change, with temperatures already rising above the global average. Long-term projections predict an increase of 1.2°C to 3.6°C by 2060, accompanied by increased rainfall variability. In rural areas—particularly in the Koutiala, Mopti, San, and Sikasso regions, where the program operates—this climate pressure is combined with persistent insecurity, acute socioeconomic vulnerability, and growing pressure on land. Women and youth are the most affected, due to their limited access to productive resources, training, and economic opportunities. Despite this challenging context, pilot initiatives have tested innovative solutions in agroecology, land governance, and economic inclusion. The PARC program builds on these achievements to deploy a structured, coordinated, and sustainable response to the systemic challenges posed by climate change.
Objectives Contribute to improving the incomes of women and young people in the targeted regions through access to innovations and information on climate as well as on equitable local governance of natural resources.
Target groups • 62,500 vulnerable producers, including 30,000 women and 4,000 young people. • 167 cooperatives, • 300 WITH. • 114 SMEs.
