Scope of WorkConstruction of an up to 1-GW Offshore Wind Farm in the Gulf of Riga in Baltic Sea.DescriptionThe two sides have sealed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU on the preliminary development of the project. The plan is to assess wind resources in the area review existing offshore projects and environmental factors and then select the most appropriate location. Once all studies are completed and permits are issued the designated area will be offered through a competitive tender process.Potentially the wind farm will be commissioned in 2030 and could produce around 3.5 TWh of power per year. This output will cover about 40 Estonias annual electricity consumption. The offshore wind farm area developed jointly by Estonia and Latvia is a unique project that contributes to the achievement of the countries renewable energy goals and creates new opportunities for other offshore farm developments.
