Location GreeceThis project is considered pioneering at international level as for the first time large seismically insulated railway bridges over 52 km will be monitored with permanently installed equipment of the latest type making it the first real large scale workshop to study the transmission of seismic waves and their impact on the structured railway environment. The scientific background to this effort is also important given the amount of information that will be collected and processed by ERGOSE and contractor specialists through appropriate bridges simulations in order to draw the relevant scientific conclusions. A contract was signed on 24 April 2019 between ERGOSE and OSMOS HELLAS SA for the Structural Health Monitoring SMH of fourteen 14 major Technical Works - Railway Bridges constructed in the New High Speed Dual Rail Line NYGYT in the Lianokladi - Domokos section. In particular the subject of this contract is the procurement installation and commissioning of an advanced Real Time Structural Monitoring System RTSMS of 14 large bridges. These bridges are innovative railway projects that were studied and built on the most difficult and mountainous part of the Greek railway network. In addition this segment exhibits increased levels of seismic activity and therefore bridges have been studied as seismically insulated incorporating the latest type of anti-seismic protection devices anti-seismic shock absorbers and hydraulic viscosity fluid dampers. The RTSMS system will be installed at ERGOSEs Project Center for Construction and Geodetic Surveillance which will record in real time the behavior of the bridges under operating conditions railway traffic as well as under seismic and other unfavorable loads. The duration of the contract is 45 months and its contractual value exceeds EUR 2 million co-financed by European funds.
