Double Tracks Hallsberg Tender

Scope The Swedish Transport Administration is gradually building a double track along the HallsbergDegern route as well as through the Hallsberg marshalling yard. We want to increase capacity and punctuality as well as improve safety. The HallsbergDegern route totalling 46 kilometres in length consists of multiple projects in various stages of completion. Purpose of the expansion increased capacity for freight trains as well as the potential for increasing passenger traffic good punctuality for both freight and passenger trains and improved security along the route. More trains will be able to use the track and journey times will be reduced. Currently freight trains are being redirected along other routes due to a lack of capacity. There is a considerable risk of disruption on stretches of single track. The Frvi-Hallsberg Degern-Mjlby and MjlbyMotala routes have already been expanded to double track.The total cost of the HallsbergDegern expansion is estimated at SEK 7 billion. In the 20182029 National Transportation System Plan the whole route is financed.
