Project-Name:Empowering Youth for Green Transition in Egypt: From Ideation to Green Enterprise
Start Date:01 March 2026
End Date:31 March 2027
Location:Egypt
Description: Egypt’s demographic structure, with youth under the age of 30 representing over 60 percent of the population, combined with accelerating climate changes and Egypt’s specific geographic features, creates both an urgent challenge and a strategic opportunity for green and climate-smart economic transformation. At the same time, many youth-led enterprises, particularly in green and climate-relevant sectors, require targeted support to progress beyond early stages of development. In the current context of economic adjustment, tightening access to finance, and increasing climate variability, youth-led green enterprises face heightened risks of stagnation or failure at the early stages of development. These dynamics have intensified over the past year and could not have been fully anticipated during previous planning cycles. Common constraints include limited access to early-stage finance, structured incubation, mentorship, and international market exposure.Recent economic adjustments, evolving investment patterns, and increasing climate variability have further highlighted the importance of timely and focused support for youth-led innovation. Without dedicated interventions, promising green startup initiatives may face delays in scaling and market entry. Addressing these gaps presents an opportunity to strengthen youth entrepreneurship, accelerate green innovation, and contribute to inclusive and climate-resilient growth through targeted, time-bound support. The project is will deliver tangible results by establishing an end-to-end support pipeline that enables youth-led green enterprises to move from ideation to incubation and market integration. Key results include:•enhanced green entrepreneurship skills among youth,•incubation and formal registration of climate-smart startups, •improved access to finance and markets, •strengthened Egypt–Japan cooperation through mentorship, technology transfer, and exposure to Japanese innovation ecosystems
