📋 Tender Overview
The scope of this activity AGAMI_EURIGAMI is the strengthening and further development of the European GaN technology and components capability for defense applications. The project covers the critical areas of the complete supply chain starting from epitaxy up to the component packaging and integration in modern electronic defense systems. The main activities are related to the technology improvement and an improved resilience against electrical and environmental threads. Various demonstrator activities are envisaged to test innovative design concepts and to prove its success with MMICs coming from leading European industrial and research wafer manufacturing lines. The integration of the components in the systems is essential to achieve best microwave and mm-wave performance but it needs to protect the sensitive GaN device against the harsh environment in which defense systems need to operate. The consortium consists of 34 partners from more than 10 different European countries. The partners are ranging from Europeans best research institutes and universities, involving major suppliers of critical materials, leading edge European wafer fabs with strong emphasis in developing advanced GaN technology, various design houses with unique skills and, finally, all European key defense system providers. This big initiative shall allow the European defense industry to grow its capabilities and to make an important step forward towards advanced multifunction and highly robust electronic systems for future defense systems. The project idea and the consortium have been initiated with strong involvement of various European Ministries of Defense (MoDs). It is going to become a major initiative in Europe and shall stand in line with various previous important activities like KORRIGAN, MANGA, EUGaNIC, MAGNUS, MUSTANG, etc. with the clear ambition to strengthen the European capability for GaN Advanced Microwave Integration.
