📋 Tender Overview
Scope: Development of a bridge spanning approximately 1km joining the two islands, construction of roads, construction of port.
Land Link: To design and construct a comprehensive link spanning approximately 1.00 km, connecting
Thilafushi and Giraavaru.
• Dredging & Land Reclamation: To undertake potential land reclamation, acquiring fill material necessary for
filling and embankment works for the designated areas as determined by the design.
• Coastal Protection: To undertake any necessary shore protection works for the reclaimed lands, causeway
islands, embankments and associated structures.
• Structural Bridge: To design and construct the bridge or bridges encompassing pile foundations, girders and
decks that will span both deep channels and/ or shallower areas between Thilafushi and Giraavaru, aligning
with the requirements of a robust and enduring structure.
• Highway Link Road: To design and develop a suitable pavement structure, construct the carriageway, and
install kerbs along with other essential cross-sectional elements, ensuring the seamless connection of both
islands for a smooth and reliable transportation route.
• Road Furniture: To enhance the functionality and safety of the finished highway link road with the provision
and installation of streetlights, road markings, traffic signs and other necessary features, contributing to a wellequipped and user-friendly transportation infrastructure.
• Access Roads: To assess the condition of the existing roadways at the landing locations of the proposed
bridge/ link on both islands. Subsequent improvements and construction at intersections connecting the link
road to adjoining roadways to enhance overall accessibility and functionality of the proposed link.
The main objective of this project is to extend the connectivity from Thilafushi to Giraavaru, upon completion of which all islands of Greater Male’ region namely, Male’-Villingili-Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi will be connected.
