Under the contract awarded earlier this month Systra will be responsible for supporting SGP in developing the definition of the programme managing the tenders and overseeing construction of the two lines. Grand Paris Express will enable residents of the Greater Paris area to travel more swiftly between areas that have little current access to public mass transit as well as create new opportunities for economic growth in the Greater Paris area.Lines 15 East and 15 West will together serve 27 communes covering 43km and are forecast to carry 1 million passengers per day. Line 15 will eventually be 15km. The technical project management contract started this month and will continue until the commissioning of the two lines which is scheduled for 2030.Line 15 will be a high-capacity underground rail line providing a new ring line around Paris in the departments of Hauts-de-Seine Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis. It will enable direct journeys between the suburbs bypassing Paris. The configuration of the line is very similar to that of the Arc Express proposed by the RATP in 2006. It was later included in the red line project of the Grand Paris public transportation network. In March 2013 the New Grand Paris project was announced by the Prime Minister at the time. It will create a loop connecting NoisyChamps to Champigny passing through Champigny-sur-Marne Crteil Villejuif La Dfense Saint-Denis and Rosny-sous-Bois.
