Scope : To Set up Greenfield Port at Mithi Virdi in Bhavnagar, Gujarat
The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) has initiated a survey of Greenfield site along the state’s coastline for potential major port development. This move comes after 28 years, with the last port established being Mundra Port in 1995.
To enhance port development in the state, a potential site has been identified for the establishment of major port. Techno-feasibility studies have been launched to assess factors such as connectivity, land availability, draft (water depth required for ships to float), and other relevant aspects at this site.
The identified site, as invited by the GMB, is Mithi Virdi in Bhavnagar.
The state government plans to set up this port over a 25-year period.
