π Tender Overview
The project covers the road safety works on 12 road sections of the Croatian Comprehensive TEN-T road network, specifically D420, D413, D8, D33, D58, D1, D410, D55, D7, D400, D66 and D424. The project will introduce the necessary road safety improvements of the most critical sections on 228.2 km of roads of the Croatian network identified. It is based on the network-wide safety assessment road carried out in accordance with Directive (EU) 2019/1936, and in line with the EuroRAP/iRAP star methodology. It contributes to achieving 50% less road accidents with fatal and serious injuries by 2030 and will contribute to move closer to zero fatalities on roads in EU by 2050. Following the EuroRAP analysis of road accidents between 2014 and 2018, during this period there were 240 traffic accidents with fatal and serious injuries on the state roads sections to be addressed. With the introduction of the safety measures, this number will be halved. The main objective of the project is to improve the road safety performance by removing or protecting the road hazards located in seven locations across the Croatian Comprehensive TEN-T network (around Dubrovnik, Ε ibenik, Split, Osijek, Slavonski Brod, Pula and Zadar). It will increase the number of road sections that will be rated 3-star or better in line with the EuroRAP/iRAP methodology. To do so, it will replace the existing road safety infrastructure on the 12 road sections with new traffic signals, signs and equipment, road markings, roadside as well as median crash barriers, crush cushions, traffic calming measures and improved visibility. To deliver on the objective, the project covers the preparation of project-technical documentation, works, professional supervision, project management and communication. The project will deliver benefits for road users with the installation of the new infrastructure, will improve road safety and will help reduce the number of fatalities on the Croatian TEN-T road network.
