PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Context: The project intervenes at both the national and subnational levels in three provinces: Central Java, Bangka-Belitung, and Central Sulawesi. They differ in the stages of conservation, restoration, socioeconomic development, and dynamics of land-use change. Coastal areas are under pressure from degradation due to the expansion of aquaculture in mangrove ecosystems, industrial land use, and unsustainable fisheries. Unsustainable mining and improper waste management pose a threat to terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
Objective: Local and national stakeholders, including women and disadvantaged groups, use ecosystem approaches in their sustainable management of terrestrial and marine landscapes.
Approach:
The project aims to mitigate the degradation of terrestrial and marine landscapes to increase ecosystem resilience and thereby
promote climate-resilient livelihoods.
Spatial and development planning will improve.
Green and blue economy principles, including the protection,
restoration and management of natural and semi-natural ecosystems,
combating water pollution, promoting sustainable business models,
ecotourism and integrated waste management in ecotourism destinations are used.
