Scope :
The Laurinvirta is a 2MW hydro power project. It is planned in North Karelia, Finland. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed by Laurinvirta. Post completion of construction, the project is expected to get commissioned by 2027. Pohjois-Karjalan Sahko; City of Joensuu is the owner of the project.
Description
The project is being developed by Laurinvirta. Pohjois-Karjalan Sahko and City of Joensuu are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 89% and 11% respectively.
Laurinvirta is a run-of-river project. The project is expected to generate 18 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 1MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2025. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.
