Scope : To Set up Logistics, Food-Processing Centre in Amritsar, Punjab
Abu Dhabi-based retail giant Lulu Group International is planning to set up a logistics and food-processing centre in Punjab’s Amritsar.
Lulu Group has tied up with the Punjab government for the project and would begin construction work soon. The centre would come up on a 20-acre land parcel in Amritsar and have a capacity of 2 lakh metric ton.
The city will now be a part of their sourcing of local products which will greatly help SMEs, local farmers, agricultural cooperatives and farmers’ producer organisation, Salim MA said on May 22.
In addition to supporting the local agricultural community and SMEs, the centre would also create significant job opportunities in the state.
A team of Lulu Group would soon visit Amritsar to hold talks with SMEs and other suppliers to finalise collaboration at the earliest.
Group also intends to have a logistics and food processing centre in Amritsar for the storage, processing, grading and packing of various local agriculture and other produce.
