Scope : To Construct a 4.7 km-Long Double Tunnel on the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) connecting Palwal and Sonipat via Sohna and Manesar.
The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) plans to construct a 4.7 km-long double tunnel through the Aravalis in Haryana which will connect Sohna and Nuh. In a first for India, the tunnels will accommodate double-decker goods and passenger trains expected to run on the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) connecting Palwal and Sonipat via Sohna and Manesar.
This would be the country's first railway tunnel for double-decker trains and will be connected to the rest of the corridor through a 3.5-km-long and 25 mtrs. high viaduct. Sohna will be a major junction for transport operations as the orbital rail will intersect with the dedicated freight corridor (DFC).
After evaluating all the technical parameters, tenders will be invited for the work by the end of this year, and post this, work is expected to be completed by 2026.
