Project Summary
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) continues to profoundly transform manufacturing systems, reshape labor markets, and redefine the skills required for employment. According to the World Economic Forumβs Future of Jobs insights, nearly 60% of the global workforce will require reskilling or upskilling by 2030, while around 40% of core job skills are expected to evolve as a result of rapid technological advancement, particularly in digitalization, automation, and artificial intelligence.
These trends highlight the urgent need to modernize capacity-building approaches to ensure that workers are equipped with future-relevant digital and technological competencies.
In response, greater efforts are required to make opportunities for learning, upskilling, and adapting to the digital age more accessible for all individuals. Addressing the growing skills gap calls for coordinated action among the public sector, private sector, and academic institutions, ensuring that skills development systems are aligned with evolving labor market demands and emerging standards for the future of work.
In this context, the workshop aims to: (i) Highlight the role of digital technologies and innovation in shaping employment, and identify key opportunities for the labor market in the digital era; (ii) Examine existing digital skills and capacity-building policies, as well as emerging frameworks and standards for the future of work; (iii) Draw lessons learned from public, private, and academic sectors, and explore multi-stakeholder collaboration models to promote effective upskilling and reskilling toward a future- ready workforce i
