Objective
The main objective of the Project Works on primary passenger lines (E30 and E65) within the Silesian Province, stage I: E65 railway line, Tychy – Most Wisla section is to improve the quality of the railway connection along the line E65 on the Tychy – Most Wisla section to meet TEN-T core requirements, and hence to improve its attractiveness and competitiveness compared to other means of transport. It will be done by the upgrading of nearly 25 km railway lines on the Tychy – Most Wisla section, along with the construction/reconstruction of engineering structures, construction/modernization of stations/passenger stops, eliminations of level crossings etc. The Project will be implemented in the Build formula, on the basis of the design documentation prepared under the project CEF 2015-PL-TM-0081-S. The Project is the important part of the Global Project covering the Bedzin - Katowice Szopienice Pld. – Katowice – Czechowice Dziedzice – Zebrzydowice (state border) section. The Project is located in the Baltic-Adriatic core network corridor. The main objective of the Project will be achieved by meeting the following specific objectives on the Tychy – Most Wisla section: • shortening of travel time; • increase the capacity; • adaptation of stations for servicing freight trains that are 750 m long; • enhancing safety of the railway traffic. The specific objectives of the Global Project will be achieved by the following operational objectives: • increasing the speed of freight trains in general up to V= 120 km/h and passenger trains up to V=160 km/h, and increasing the maximum permissible axle load to 221 kN; • removing bottlenecks ; • increasing the level of safety through, inter alia, modernisation of the control command and signalling system and expansion of Local Control Centres, and increasing safety on level crossings; • upgrading the catenary and traction power supply.
