π Tender Overview
The SDC aims to contribute to strengthening the resilience of more than 180,000 pastoralists, including internally displaced people, affected by the security and climate crisis in Burkina Faso. The program aims to support pastoralists in adapting their livestock farming practices to climate and security challenges, create economic opportunities for young people and women, and ensure peaceful management of conflicts over access to natural resources.

The project in brief
Background The pastoral livestock system in Burkina Faso, which produces 75% of the livestock, 95% of the milk, and employs more than 900,000 people, is severely affected by insecurity and climate change. This situation is putting significant pressure on natural resources (land, water, pasture). Faced with these challenges, many pastoralists are migrating to the less affected southern border regions, causing pastoral overpopulation and conflicts with farmers over access to natural resources. Despite the progress made under the RESILIA Phase 1 program, particularly in securing pastoral areas and building pastoral infrastructure, the situation remains fragile. The movement of pastoralists southward continues, increasing pressure on resources. As part of Phase 2 of RESILIA, Switzerland, in support of the Ministry of Agriculture, will strengthen the resilience of the pastoral system by developing secure pastoral developments, promoting animal products (milk, meat, etc.) and ensuring the prevention and peaceful management of conflicts over access to natural resources. These actions will promote peaceful livestock mobility, develop economic opportunities for young people and women, while maintaining peace and social cohesion between communities and socio-professional actors (livestock farmers and farmers).
Objectives Overall Objective (Impact) : Vulnerable pastoralist households strengthen their food and nutritional security and resilience to climate crises and insecurity.
Target groups 30,000 households, or 180,000 people, from pastoralist communities and local communities in four border regions in the south of the country (Nazinon, Nando, Djoro, and Tannouyan). One-third (1/3) of the target households (or 10,000 households) will be internally displaced persons and resettled populations. Approximately 60,000 women and young people will be priority targets.
Medium-term outcomes Achievement 1 : Pastoralists have better access to pastoral resources and infrastructure and adapt their pastoral practices to the effects of climate and security crises; Achievement 2: Pastoralists, especially young people and women, value animal production (milk, meat, manure, etc.) for economic opportunities (income and employment) and foo
