Scope :
Redevelopment of the Ruhengeri referral hospital in the Musanze district in northwestern Rwanda. The rehabilitation project will increase the hospital’s capacity from 320 beds to 550. All the existing buildings will be replaced with the exception of the laboratory.
The project will also introduce new services to the hospital including intensive care and diagnostic services such as CT scanners, MRI and electrocardiograms, with aim of reducing the need for patients to travel to the capital for treatment.
The AFD will prove a €75 million concessional loan and a €4 million grant. Some of the funds will be allocated to training healthcare personnel.
The project is expected to take four years to complete.
