๐ Tender Overview
Scope of Work:
To Establish Sadah Wind Power Project in Dhofar Governorate.
Details:
Authorities overseeing the rollout of new renewables-based electricity generation capacity in the Sultanate have identified locations for the establishment of wind power projects. This project is expected to provide energy benefits in addition to further boosting the governmentโs commitment to reduce greenhouse gases emissions. Helping accelerate the approvals process necessary to drive the early implementation of Omanโs wind power programme is a committee of officials representing a number of government and public sector organisations. The list includes Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) โ the sole procurer of all conventional and renewables based capacity in Oman, Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC, the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), Environment Authority (EA), Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). The project will be developed at a site located in Sadah with a capacity of 81-99 MW for commercial operation in Q4 2027.
Wind power project is slated for launch in 2025. As a first step in the delivery of the rebranded โWind 2025โ project, the stakeholders are focused on completing the โpredevelopment phaseโ. To this end, the team worked on the commissioning of a monitoring station for the collection, assessment and publication of wind resource data, which is a prerequisite for the start of a feasibility study for the procurement of a wind-based Independent Power Project (IPP). In 2021, the qualification process for the first round of wind IPPs is set to take place in Q3 of 2021. Then, the RFP (request for proposals) will be issued to the qualified bidders, and the technical and bid evaluation process will start.
