Project scope and objective
IDB Invest is considering financing Satelital Telecomunicaciones SAC ( Satelital ) for up to US$30 million, consisting of an A-Loan of up to US$5 million and a B-Loan of up to US$25 million to support its plan to expand fiber optic networks to offer fixed broadband Internet services to homes, businesses and government agencies in the towns located in Loreto, Peru.
Satelital has been the only telecommunications company to develop and operate the fiber optic backbone network in the Peruvian Amazon. Taking advantage of its backbone network, Satelital has an investment plan to expand the fiber optic networks to connect localities in the same region where there has been no fixed broadband connection based on fiber optics.
