π Tender Overview
Scope : To Construct Sikar-Jhunjhunu Surface Water Project in Rajasthan
Considering the groundwater conditions in the state, the Rajasthan Government has given an approval to implement major surface water project.
This project would help to give tap water connections under the Union governmentβs Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The approval has been given at the 37th meeting of the State Level Project Sanctioning Committee (SLSSC) held under the chairmanship of additional chief secretary, Public Health Engineering and Ground Water, Subodh Agrawal.
This is major surface water project. In most blocks of Rajasthan, groundwater is in bad shape owing to over exploitations. If they would have provided groundwater-based connections under the JJM, the connections would have sustained barely for five years. This is the reason why JJM connections in Rajasthan is costliest compared to any other states and time consuming.
If everything works fine and according to plan, it will take at least 30 to 36 months to complete this project.
Meanwhile, they would provide interim connections to the beneficiaries of this project through ground water. Once this project is completed, they are going to switch the connections with surface water.
This project is Rs 7934 crore Sikar-Jhunjhunu project. Around 1,133 villages of these two districts would get supply from the Indira Gandhi Canal Project under this project.
