The pressure on mangroves, forests, marine resources and soils from slash-and-burn agriculture, traditional artisanal fishing, and traditional fish and shrimp smoking, activities practiced by the populations of 10 identified villages located around Mondah Bay, constitutes an environmental and social problem. Our proposal to address this problem is to create communities of smallholder farmers and fishermen RESTORING nature in these identified villages through a comprehensive approach that combines education, incentives and community involvement in promoting sustainable agriculture, fishing and ecotourism.
