Description: The main objective of the project is to add in situ value to native wood produced by community forest management with FM-FSC certification in Quintana Roo, through the establishment of a battery of drying ovens with a capacity for 6,000 board feet of tropical hardwoods per month. To this end, solar drying technologies and drying equipment (dehumidifier and fans) powered by electricity from solar panels are adapted to reduce drying costs, decrease the impact of the forestry industry on climate change; as well as strengthen the development of family carpentry shops, supplying them with oven-dried and FSC-certified wood to make furniture manufacturing more competitive and facilitate their access to the regional market.
