Project Summary
This project seeks to support increased access to Assistive Technology (AT), which is essential to promoting the economic participation of all, including people with disability and people with impairments, and improving productivity. Globally more than 2.5 billion people need one or more assistive products, and with an ageing global population, an estimated 3.5 billion people will need assistive technology by 2050. Building on work in the APEC Economic Committee examining structure reforms to improve access to AT, this project seeks to better understand different trade and market access measures that can support greater access to assistive products and services in APEC economies. The project aims to develop a discussion paper and mapping exercise of existing market access measures relevant to AT, deliver a workshop to facilitate discussion on market access measures and gaps, and develop a research report outlining key findings to support greater access to AT in APEC economies.
