So far the first implementation works on Austrian territory have been completed, while the German plannings required for the establishment of the Northern Access Line to the BBT are ongoing. The project continues from the point of already achieved targets, and comprises these next milestones along the implementation road map , namely the โข preliminary planning of the project and its structural planning for the areas of traffic facilities and engineering structures in Germany; and the โข planning and construction of the Angath excavation gallery (tunnel) in Austria. The cross-border dimension of the project is emphasized by a high degree of integration in the planning and implementation of a project, with the highest EU added value. After completion the Global Project, the ScandinavianโMediterranean Core Network Corridor will benefit from the removal of this bottleneck along the cross-border connection between Austria and Germany through enabled higher average maximum speed to rail future operations, respective reductions in travel times, and increases in capacity for freight and passenger transport. By promoting rail as a sustainable, innovative and safe mode of transport, also the desired delivery of the European Green Deal on the objectives in the transport field will be supported by completion of the Northern Access Line to the Brenner Base Tunnel.
