๐ Tender Overview
In the Sahel region, marked by security and climate risks, production systems in Niger remain fragile. Agriculture, the population's main activity, remains low-productivity and vulnerable to shocks. Through this program, Switzerland is strengthening its support for vulnerable family farms in Dosso and Maradi by securing their access to shared resources and bolstering their livelihoods.

The project in brief
Background Niger has a relatively structured legal and institutional framework for land tenure, based in particular on Ordinances No. 24-2026 and No. 93-015 establishing land tenure guidelines and the Rural Code, and Ordinance No. 2010-029 concerning the pastoral regime, which recognizes pastoral mobility and regulates access to natural resources. This framework, strengthened with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), has made it possible to consolidate local land and pastoral governance mechanisms, serving family farms and small-scale agriculture, which form the basis of production systems. However, the implementation of this framework remains incomplete in the face of increasing land pressures, evolving agropastoral dynamics, and production constraints. In this context, the sustainable security of productive resources, combined with the strengthening of agricultural and pastoral production systems, remains essential to improving the living conditions of family farms.
Objectives To ensure sustainable food security for family agropastoral farms in a peaceful environment.
Target groups - Vulnerable family farms and pastoral holdings in the Dosso and Maradi regions; - Transhumant herders and agro-livestock farmers; - Rural women and youth, engaged in production, processing, marketing and income-generating activities; - Local communities and customary authorities, involved in the management of natural resources and the prevention of conflicts; - Local structures for land governance and natural resource management
Medium-term outcomes 1. To sustainably strengthen secure access and concerted governance of agropastoral resources for the benefit of vulnerable households in the Maradi and Dosso regions; 2. To sustainably improve the livelihoods and resilience of agropastoral households in the face of climatic, economic and security shocks.
