π Tender Overview
Specific aims of the project are:
(a) Educating youth football players to gender equality
(b) Providing coaches with skills to promote gender equality among female and male youth football players
(c) Promoting gender equality in the larger society
The partnership is composed of 4 National Football Federations, 1 communication society, 1 university, 1 training association, UEFA (supporting institution). Such competent and diverse partnerships can be effective in designing a scientifically-based program fostering gender equality. First, we will design a training program for coaches, aimed to promote gender equality in male and female football teams from 16 years old, to promote STEM and self-efficacy to achieve a stereotype-gender free position at the personal and collective level, and to provide psychological skills to make youth football players the ambassadors of gender equality, within and beyond their community. The training program (translated in online course and guidelines) will be included by national federations in courses for coaching license. Second, we will conduct a communication campaign taking advantage of partnersβ powerful media channels, using relevant role models such as players from national football teams, to spread the message to an EU audience. TARGET provides a new approach to foster gender equality, using the popularity of football to reduce societal gender disparities, within and beyond the football field.
