π Tender Overview
Scope :
Tetetou is a 50MW hydro power project. It is planned on Mono river/basin in Plateaux, Togo.
The project construction is likely to commence in 2025 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2027.
Description
The project is being developed by Themis and is currently owned by Ministry of Mines and Energy, Togo.
The project is expected to generate 172 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2025. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.
Themis and the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Togo are co-developing a 50MW hydro power plant. The project is located along the Mono River and about 40 km to the northeast of the town of NotsΓ©.
The project will improve dispatch flexibility for peak hours, allowing to substitute expensive diesel or import and will provide spinning reserve that enhances the potential for developing solar plants.
A multicriteria analysis conducted by the International Finance Corporation and based on the adequacy of projects to the needs of Togo determined Tetetou as the most competitive site to reduce the cost of the energy mix in the country. The project will contribute to addressing Togoβs vulnerability to energy imports which account for 40% of the energy injected into the grid. Furthermore, the project will avoid 127,3 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per day, thereby allowing Togo to substantially contribute to global efforts aimed at addressing climate change.
Top priority will be given to environmental, social and biodiversity mitigation measures and best international standards will be applied to maintain competitiveness and deliver meaningful emissions reductions.
