Project Summary
This project empowers women to lead innovation in waste management, sustainability, and the circular economy. It aims to create an enabling environment by addressing barriers typically faced by women such as financial constraints and limited access to training, technology, and markets. Through targeted capacity-building, the project will equip women with the knowledge and strategies to pursue flexible, home- based waste-to-wealth opportunities that generate sustainable income. Capacity- building workshops in waste management, upcycling, and green business development will promote environmentally sustainable practices and strengthen womenβs participation in the circular economy. Access to markets, mentorship, and industry networks will further support their growth. These objectives will be achieved through a combination of research, a two-day seminar, and structured engagements with stakeholders, including industry, academia, and policymakers, to foster capacity building, collaboration and advocacy. Aligned with APEC PPWEβs priorities of promoting womenβs economic empowerment, sustainability, and economic growth, the project contributes to advancing women-led innovation and green entrepreneurship across APEC economies.
