Project Summary

Agri-food changes encompass water environmental changes (water resources amount decline), soil environmental changes (soil degradation) and population and consumption changes. These changes have had a profound impact on food security. In order to address new challenges, APEC economies need to communicate on how to adopt innovative technologies to promote food security. The workshop will converge on:
1) Sharing views on understanding how water, soil and consumption changed in the APEC region.
2) Communicating on what kind of technologies we could use to improve resilience of agri-food systems to promote food security.
3) Exchanging information on successful case studies on building resilient soils, water, and production systems, addressing food loss and waste, as well as consumption changes, and responding to demographic shifts.
The workshop is going to be initially organized in a hybrid (in person and virtually) manner during the Food Security Week in August this year. After the workshop, APEC economies will gain expertise, good practices and lessons in this regard.
