Relevance
Region
ourism is an important part of APEC economies. The development of tourism, the growth of its sustainability, innovativeness, and the involvement of all groups and categories of citizens in the tourism industry stimulate the development of APEC economies and enhance the overall connectivity of APEC. According to the UN, in 2024, a total of 1.4 billion international tourist arrivals were registered worldwide, which markedthe recovery of international tourismafter the most serious crisis in the history of the tourism sector (the COVID-2019 pandemic). In 2024, most destinations received more international tourists than in 2019. Visitor spending in 2024 also largely exceeded spending in 2019 and continues to grow.
It is expected that the high demand for tourism services and products, contributing to the socio-economic development of all APEC economies, will continue during2025 and beyond. At the same time, whi
