Description
The project focuses on the rehabilitation, reinforcement, and expansion of drinking water supply systems in secondary cities in Togo. Investments cover the production, transfer, storage, and distribution of drinking water to improve the quality of supply services. The components financed by the EIB are located in the northern part of the country, in the Savanes and Kara regions. The project follows on from the first phase of the National Water Development Plan (PND), launched in 2020 with support from the French Development Agency (AFD). This new phase aims to complete existing infrastructure, construct new facilities, and extend water supply services to additional urban areas.
Objectives
The Project aims to strengthen, extend, and rehabilitate the drinking water supply in several Togolese cities. The project has two main components. The first involves investments in the northern and central regions of the country, such as the completion of drinking water infrastructure initiated under the National Water Development Plan (PND Eau 1) in the Savanes region, the construction of new infrastructure in the city of Mango, and the completion of projects in the Savanes and Plateaux regions. The second component covers emergency work, including the reinforcement of a transfer pipeline in the city of Kara to secure the water supply in this area.
